Astrology can answer specific questions about the future, but only if those questions can be contained within a single chart. Attempting to use astrology to forecast the next president by looking at the natal charts of the potential candidates is pointless. There’s no objective standard you can use to evaluate the data and therefore no way to get a clear answer.
This hasn’t stopped many astrologers from predicting winners and losers based on how “good” or “bad” the transits, progressions, or directions are to the charts of the potential candidates. Their observations may be valid, but their conclusions aren’t. They’re describing the elephant’s tusk, not the whole elephant.
In the horoscope of the United States, Pluto, as it moves through Capricorn, is opposing the Sun in the natal chart, reflecting major and irrevocable changes on many levels. This aspect has occurred only once before in American history, during the period of the Revolutionary War. Although it is not intrinsically an aspect of war, it challenges the deepest definitions of what constitutes nationhood and raises many issues of autonomy and the way in which the government is structured and how much authority it may or may not exercise. The deeper issues underlying the Revolutionary War concerned not only human rights, but also the autonomy of the individual states comprising the nation, and these issues may once again rise to the surface as new ways of defining the national identity are proposed.
There is great emphasis on the nature of the bonds America forms with other nations, and here too Pluto's transformative energy may require many changes and a re-evaluation of the ways and reasons why particular nations are sought as partners and others are excluded. This could potentially be a time of great renewal and a re-establishment of those high ideals on which the structure of the nation is based.
Pluto, as it completes its transit through Capricorn, will also return to its own natal place: in other words, the United States is experiencing its Pluto return. This suggests the completion of a great cycle and a cementing of the fundamental values on which the Constitution is built. There may also be a serious reappraisal of issues concerned with the environment, as Capricorn is an earthy sign, and the use or abuse of natural resources may become a cause for not only profound concern but also profound change and a more enlightened attitude. The enormous resources available to the United States are reflected by Pluto in the 2nd house of the national chart, and it is possible that these will be approached with greater respect and care than ever before.
Whether or not you favor these changes personally, it would seem that a time has arrived when there is a great new opportunity to affirm the values and ideals of the original founding of the nation, applicable not only to government and to foreign relations, but also to the land itself and the resources inherent in it.
We have been going through a Pluto (Transforming) in Capricorn (staid and traditional) period since the day of the last presidential election. The obvious transformation in the tradition of the United States is monumental. It is not necessarily all good. We do have a number of years to experience this transit (up to 2024). Let us all hope that our tradition is not harmed too badly. The next transit of Pluto we will experience will be Pluto in Aquarius (friendship, invention, humanitarianism and globalism).
Pluto (to transform) in Capricorn (Prudent and Reserved)
You transform in a prudent and reserved manner in areas related to power, business and careers. This generation may be against authority and wish to become independent of some authority (powerful country, convention, etc). You delve beneath the surface in matters related power over others and in a practical, common sense way seek to remove it (earth). You may move out into the world to make changes (cardinal), and you are motivated from the outside (passive), which might be social conventions. The transformation is resisted because of a tendency to cling onto the old and a tendency to carefully and prudently make changes, which tends to make them even more powerful when they break through.
Our next experience:
Remember Pluto tears down before it gets to a point where it rebuilds. Therefore, Aquarius which represents friendship and globalism through humanitarianism could become a major problem.
Pluto (to transform) in Aquarius (Indifferent and Unconventional) humanitarian matters. There are likely to be drastic changes in these areas: social, intellectual and relationships between groups for this generation. These changes are likely to persist and be intrinsically motivated (active). This could be a time of drastic social changes which could reach to the very depths of belief, and threaten the foundations of society.
This next election is going to be the most important in the history of our country. It may affect the younger people the most. Let's hope that they all remember history and can vote the way the country will prosper spiritually, financially and in a humanitarian way.
Beginning Aug. 30th and through Sept. 22, Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Virgo. Expect to hear untruths. There will be messy appointments, car problems, and miscommunications. Since it is in the sign of Virgo, be careful of incorrect diagnosis and any statistics that are analyzed. Go over them carefully. But do not sign a legal document without consulting a lawyer. Lots of missteps.
